The High Hill

A story from our ski trip to Austria

Only one week until our school trip. My whole grade and I were going on a winter week in Austria. I was nervous because I have never been skiing before. I thought about all the things that could happen while skiing. One week later for me it felt like one second had passed and the day was there.

My backpack was packed, and my family and I were standing next to the bus. Even my dog was there to say goodbye to me. I went on the bus waved at my parents for the last time and then the bus departed.

Seven hours later we arrived in Seefeld. We took our suitcases and went to the reception; there the teacher gave us the keycards and I got the room e209. That was cool because it reminded me that I was born in the year 2009. We went to our rooms, and we unpacked our backpacks. After a few minutes we had to meet each other in a conference room. Here Mrs. Wilde told us the plan for the upcoming week. Directly after that we got our ski equipment. Then the day turned into the night, and we had to go to sleep. We felt asleep after two teachers reminded us to be quieter.

The First Day of Skiing:

At seven o´clock in the morning a teacher, I can´t remember who it was, came into our room and woke us up. I felt so tired that I would have preferred to sleep three hours longer. We met each other at an outdoor waiting point. We walked the way down to the bus and the bus took us every morning and afternoon to the Rosshütte or Alpenköng. The bus was so crowed every time that nobody had room to move.

At first, we learned to ski on hard snow and how to put on the skis. But that wasn´t the hardest challenge. How to put on the ski shoes was even harder. I thought I would never get out of these shoes again.

I was so lucky to be Mrs. Wildes group because she is our gym teacher in normal school weeks. At first, we practiced how to go with only one ski. And after a few hours we had our first break. The food was OK. You could eat it, but I wouldn’t eat it again, if I didn´t have to.

In the afternoon we continued with how to stand on two skis, then how to go on two skis. Finally, we called it a day and we ate dinner.

At 8 p.m. we met in the Disco. That was so nice because everyone danced. After this nice time together, we went outside. There two persons waited. It was “Die wilde Schneefee” and “Der Pistenschleicher”. They talked to us that we are now accepted in the “Freiherrliche Skigemeinde”. And they had wonderful fireworks. We fell so fast asleep after this funny presentation.

The Second Day of Skiing:

On this day we all had hurting legs. We got up, ate the worst breakfast ever and it was the same as the day before but what we learned and did there on the slove wasn´t the same.

We learned the “Flug”. It was hard in the beginning but then it was so easy.

We came back and did the same thing again, but the only bad thing was that the Disco wasn´t as good as the day before. Every day there was a quiz and on this day I and one classmate went to the quiz. It was over geography. We were good, we claimed 9/10 points. We ate the worst dinner. The rest of this afternoon was very funny because there was a class competition. We had to choose two persons and these two had to dress up funny costumes. A boy dressed up like a girl and a girl dressed up like a boy. But not only the five classes picked two persons who dressed up, two of the teachers dressed up too. That looked so funny because they all walked like on a catwalk. After a clap voting the winners were announced. 1-C; 2-E; 3-A, 4-B, 5-D. This was the main event of the day we had a Disco such as the days before. After a funny, good and cool day we fell asleep quickly.

The Third Day of Skiing:

After we had got up, we ate the worst breakfast again. We went to the slove, but once I had looked outside, I got a bad feeling because it was raining and snowing strongly on the mountains. We put on the ski shoes and went to the slove, and my thought turned out right. Although the weather was bad Mrs. Wilde said we would drive the hardest blue slove today.

After the cabelcar, this time with seats, had brought us on top of the mountain, I got nervous and scared. An advanced ski drive drove with us down the mountain, but I was getting scared anyway. Then we began to go down the slove. Some students fell down a lot, but I fell only three times. Sometimes I thought that I would fall down the cliff and onetime it was even close. Anyway, I was relieved when we reached the bottom of the mountain. It was really challenging because the snow wasn´t easy to drive Mrs. Wilde realized that we wouldn´t drive the slove again because the slove was too hard. The rest of the day we only drove the normal blue slove. Suddenly we spotted a helicopter.

I saw a boy who got transported on a Ski Mobil on top of that he looked very injured. I knew the boy from school. Nobody knew what happened to him. I felt sorry for him and his family. But the rest of the day was very enjoyable because the new episodes of Mandalorian and Bad Batch were realized, and I watched both but that wasn´t the only good thing. We would have had a Karaoke Dinner, but the speakers were broken. We did a Game Dinner everyone could do what they wanted. My friends and I did magic tricks. After a magical, relaxing, and cool day we fell asleep.

The Fourth Day of Skiing:

We woke up ate the bad breakfast, but we were used it by now. Put the ski things on and drove ski. It was perfect. We drove from the best slove to a lot.

The coach brought us back to the Alpenkönig. We got our smart phones, like every day before, two hours. We talked to our parents and gave the smart phones back. Ate an okay dinner like every day before. After this we went to a conference room. We watched a small film with all pictures that teachers took. The Mrs. Wilde said a few organization things and then we had to sleep, and we did it.

The Last Day of Skiing:

We all stood up and knew that is the last time. We ate the last time the bad breakfast. And we put up the last time the ski shoes on. We drove the last time the blue slove and the mood was very happy and sadly. We gave the ski things back; we went into the bus with our packed backpacks. Then the bud departed. I remembered the best days and the bad days. We arrived at Fulda two hours before we expected. It was so nice to see the parents and sisters and brothers, and all wait of us and one of this families was mine.
